Question Time

How can anyone take a politician who wears a tie with pigs on it seriously!   (Nigel Farage - on Question Time)

Elf on the Shelf - Part Two

As a parent of a "post Elf-age" child (ie above 6), I am somewhat bemused by this recent craze.  Whilst it is quite funny, I find it difficult to comprehend how parents have the time or energy to constantly come up with ever more creative poses and scenarios for a moronic-faced plastic doll.  Work colleagues of mine who work more hours than I do invent daily mishaps caused by their small friend for their children to discover.  I've heard about elves in fire engines extinguishing fakes fires to stolen cornflakes.  Whatever next?!!!

Elf on the Shelf???

What is it with the Elf on a/the shelf?  It seems to be everywhere.  Am I being a cynic but is it not a bit too much.  Too much overstimulation for children.  Just saying....

Minecraft

What is it with Minecraft?  How can children sit for such long periods staring at pixels and get so enthusiastic about the laborious painstakingly slow task of building block by block?  Hmm . I just don't get it.  Apparently, the National Geographical Society Christmas Lecture 2015 (guest of honour - Minecraft afficienado, Stampy) was the best attended.

Yesterday, whilst I was driving, I heard a gasp from the back of the car.
"What's up?" I ask.
"I left a chicken in the furnace!?!" was the reply.

.....in a Minecraft world, apparently!

Brexit/USA election

Well that was quite a surprise - the election results.  Donald Trump!!! Are we doomed as well as the US?  What a horrific man.  The same thing has happened in America as happened with Brexit - those who were failed by the system rejected it.  Unfortunately, in both the UK and the US, there is a large percentage of the electorate who gain nothing from the current system and voted for change.

Back to Brexit in our country - not sure what is going to happen.

Bregretters remind me of the Palestinians who voted in Hamas in 2006.  They said they didn't "mean" for them to actually win.  That worked well!

The Morning After...

Rotting pumpkins

Am I a rubbish parent?  Arrived home late and realised I had nothing for dinner.  Cobbled together some awful fish concoction from the freezer.  Not popular. Hmm.

Hallowe'en

Well I am back home after a thoroughly knackering 50mins trick or treating (or apparently used to be known as guising here in Scotland) with two sugar high eight-year-olds.  Minimal effort on my part for the costume and the same joke as last year:

"What do you get if you meet a vampire in the snow?"   Answer:  "Frostbite"
Here are our efforts at carving pumpkins. Mine is on the left; J's on the right.
